Week 11 continued - Printing Profiles

"when we calibrate a printer, we aren't just profiling the printer we are actually profiling the printer plus a particular paper type because the profile of one paper will be different to another paper printing on the same printer"

"if you have a really high gloss white paper it will have a different color gamut to an art paper with a yellowish tone or a matte finish that cant provide the same density"

We need to create a profile for every printer + paper combination

Soft proofing - looking at your screen to see what the final result of the image will be when printed with a properly calibrated monitor

The process of creating a printing profile

"the hardest bit to get right of the whole process is sending the test target to the printer and having it printed out without doing any color management on it"
